The Right Way to Give a Gift Card Christmas 2016

You are typically a champion gifter. But this year, gifting has slipped through your fingers, and with two weeks to Christmas the clock is ticking. It's time to turn to gift cards.

Gift cards can feel like a cop-out, but the good news is people actually love getting them. If you're still uneasy with the idea, I've got some tips to make gift cards feel good.

- Gift with purpose. Think about your giftee's job, hobbies, or major life events and use kohls coupons 30% off with kohl's charge card purchase accordingly.

-  Make it personal. In a holiday card, tell the recipient what you hope they'll use the credit for. You thought about this, and it's the thought that counts.

-  Give a little more. Since you won’t be spending your time, spend your money. Give a little extra for the convenience of not having to travel to the farthest reaches of the internet searching for the perfect gift.

- Add a little something. Include a small, tangible item related to the gift card that can be opened on the spot. A go-along present will round out the receiver's experience and make them excited to use the funds for more that they'll love.

-  Wrap it for real. Avoid plopping your gift card into an envelope and simply writing the recipient's name on it. Go the whole nine yards on the wrap job—box, bow, flair—so it feels just as special as the handmade, locally-sourced, one-of-a-kind unicorn gift you were never going to find.
